A simple guide to help us create activities that feel safe, respectful, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
At GreenHope, we want our events, workshops, trainings, exchanges, and community activities to be spaces where people can participate freely, learn from one another, and feel comfortable being themselves. These guidelines set the tone for how we treat each other and what we expect from everyone involved.
By joining a GreenHope activity, participants agree to support the following shared values:
Respect
Everyone should be treated with dignity, consideration, and basic human decency. Different opinions are allowed. Disrespect is not.
Inclusion
We welcome people from different backgrounds, identities, cultures, and life experiences. No one should feel excluded, diminished, or unsafe because of who they are.
Open-mindedness
We encourage listening, dialogue, curiosity, and constructive participation. We do not expect everyone to think the same, but we do expect people to engage respectfully.
Responsibility
Each participant is responsible for their words, actions, and the impact they may have on others. This also includes taking care of the spaces, materials, and shared environment.
Cooperation
Our activities work best when people contribute with goodwill, patience, and a team spirit. Mutual support matters.
To protect the well-being of everyone involved, GreenHope does not accept the following:
Harassment or intimidation
Any form of bullying, humiliating behaviour, threats, repeated unwanted comments, or actions that make someone feel unsafe or targeted.
Discrimination
This includes discriminatory behaviour or language based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, social background, or any other personal characteristic.
Sexist or sexually inappropriate behaviour
Unwanted remarks, sexual jokes, suggestive comments, intrusive questions, inappropriate physical contact, or any conduct that creates discomfort or pressure.
Racist or xenophobic behaviour
Any hostile, degrading, or exclusionary speech or conduct directed at individuals or groups based on race, ethnic background, nationality, or migration status.
Aggressive promotion of political or religious views
People are free to have personal beliefs, but GreenHope activities are not spaces for campaigning, pressure, recruitment, or ideological confrontation.
Alcohol or drug use during activities
Participants are expected to take part in a responsible and safe manner. Substance use that affects behaviour, safety, or the group environment is not permitted.
Damage to property, materials, or shared spaces
Participants must use venues, equipment, and resources responsibly and leave shared spaces in good condition.
Repeated refusal to follow the activity framework
Organisers and facilitators are responsible for maintaining a safe and functional environment. Ignoring instructions or disrupting the activity repeatedly may lead to intervention.
These expectations apply in all contexts connected to a GreenHope activity, including:
in-person events, workshops, meetings, and trainings;
travel related to the activity;
group chats and messaging platforms;
shared online documents and collaborative tools;
online meetings and digital sessions;
social media interactions connected to the activity.
If the interaction is related to a GreenHope activity, these guidelines still apply.
If you experience, witness, or become aware of behaviour that goes against these guidelines, please speak to a facilitator, organiser, or member of the GreenHope team as soon as possible.
Reports may also be submitted in writing through:
Email: contact@green-hope.org
All concerns will be treated seriously, respectfully, and as confidentially as possible. We will listen, assess the situation, and respond in a fair and proportionate way.
Depending on the situation, GreenHope may take one or more of the following steps:
informal discussion and clarification;
verbal reminder or warning;
formal written warning;
removal from part of the activity;
full removal from the event or programme;
restriction from future participation;
contact with relevant authorities, where required by law.
To protect participants and maintain a healthy group environment, GreenHope organisers and facilitators may:
interrupt or redirect a discussion;
ask someone to rephrase a comment;
address behaviour that affects the group;
pause participation when needed;
ask a participant to leave the activity if the situation requires it.
Failure to cooperate with reasonable requests from the organising team may result in removal from the activity.
By taking part in a GreenHope activity, each participant agrees to contribute to a space built on respect, safety, fairness, and mutual care.
Our goal is not only to prevent harm, but to actively create environments where people feel welcome, heard, and able to take part with confidence.
At GreenHope, we believe strong communities are built through respect, responsibility, and the way people show up for one another.
